Delivered on-site in your school, the CPD session is a fully customisable oneday training course including 5 modules, which you can select from our CPD catalogue. This typically runs from 9:30 - 15:30 and hosts a maximum of 15 teachers to ensure all attendees will get the best from the day.

An introduction to your new device (recommended)

This session will introduce teachers to their device, showing them the educational features of the device itself, how to connect to projectors and the features of the installed operating system.

Objectives

By the end of this session, teachers will be able to:

  • Describe the features of their device
  • Explain how to connect their device to a projector and display educational content to students
  • Describe 6 features of Microsoft Windows 10 that are educationally focused
  • Troubleshoot your device

The Office 365 applications:

In this session teachers will get an introduction to Office 365 and which applications, tools and services are available to excite and engage their students.

Objectives

By the end of this session, teachers will be able to:

  • List the tools available to them in Office 365
  • List 5 benefits of Office 365
  • Describe how teachers and students access Office 365
  • Plan which tools will offer the best educational value when teaching students

Collaborating with Office 365:

In this session, teachers will see the benefits Office 365 brings with collaboration. It’s great for teachers who want to collaborate with each other and it provides a platform for students to work together, whether that’s on a piece of group work or discussing ideas inside and outside of school.

Objectives

By the end of this session, teachers will be able to:

  • Identify the advantages of collaborating inside and outside of the classroom
  • Explain the collaboration features of Office 365
  • Describe how teachers or students would collaborate in a Word, Excel or PowerPoint file
  • Describe how changes can be undone from a file being collaborated on.

The OneNote Class Notebook

In this session, teachers will see the power OneNote Class Notebook brings to the classroom.

Objectives

By the end of this session, teachers will be able to:

  • Explain what the OneNote Class Notebook is
  • Describe how to create a OneNote Class Notebook
  • List the steps to share a OneNote Class Notebook with a class
  • Use the OneNote Class Notebook as a Teacher to add content and quizzes
  • Describe how a student accesses a OneNote Class Notebook that a teacher has created

A social network for your school

This session will show teachers the social features built in to Office 365 through Yammer – a social network schools have complete control of.

Objectives

By the end of this session teachers will be able to:

  • Explain what Yammer is
  • Post updates on Yammer
  • List 6 benefits of using Yammer in your school
  • Using Yammer with other schools, and other people external to your organisation

Using Skype for virtual field trips

Skype is a powerful communication tool but can be used for much more than that. In this session teachers will be shown how they can use Skype to take students outside the four walls of the classroom, without leaving the classroom.

Objectives

By the end of this session teachers will be able to:

  • Describe the features of Skype
  • Use Skype to communicate with teachers and students
  • Explain how to find a virtual field trip using Skype
  • Connect with a guest speaker using Skype to support teaching and learning

Using Office Mix to create dynamic learning resources for your students

Office Mix is a free add-in for PowerPoint that allows teachers and students to create much more than a simple slide-deck. Using Office Mix, slide decks become supercharged – add videos, polls, Assessments and quizzes, and more.

Objectives

By the end of this session teachers will be able to:

  • Describe the steps to starting an Office Mix
  • Add a video in to an Office Mix
  • Add a quiz in to an Office Mix to check understanding
  • Share an Office Mix for students to use

Telling a story with Sway

Sway allows you and your students to create interactive stories by transforming photos, video, audio and more in to a polished format designed for sharing

Objectives

By the end of this session teachers will be able to:

  • Explain the Sway workflow including how you and your students can use the Remix feature to easily create a new design for your sway
  • Add contant to a Sway and organise it so it looks engaging
  • Describe the steps to share a sway with other users
  • Explain how you and your students can collaborate when creating a Sway.

Creating an ePortfolio with Docs.com

Docs.com is a place where you and your students can create an online showroom of their work. With Docs.com, students can create an online record of achievement, share documents, and almost anything else with their peers, teachers and parents.

Objectives

By the end of this session teachers will be able to:

  • Describe what docs.com is and the benefits of using it in a 21st century environment
  • Explain when docs.com should be used and when OneDrive should be
  • Describe how a user accesses their docs.com page
  • List what kinds of files can be added to a user’s docs.com page
  • Describe how a student or a teacher add content to a docs.com page
  • Explain the steps to controlling access to content on docs.com
